The colour work we do
Most of the hair colour we do in Romford is everyday colour done properly. Full-head colour when you want a new shade. Roots when the regrowth line starts showing. Lightening when you want to go brighter than your natural colour allows. Toning when the shade has drifted warm or brassy and needs pulling back.
None of it is complicated to explain. What varies is what your hair can take. Hair that has been coloured before, lightened before, or is dry at the ends does not behave the same way as hair that has never been touched — and the honest answer is sometimes that we do less than you came in for, so that what we do lasts.

Highlights, balayage and ombré
Highlights are the service we are asked for most. They come in three sizes, and the right one depends on what you want the result to do rather than on what sounds most thorough.
A full head takes colour through the whole head and gives the biggest change. A half head works the top and sides, which is where the light falls and where most people actually see the difference. A T-section covers the parting and hairline only — the smallest option, and often the right one between fuller appointments.
Balayage and ombré are painted rather than foiled. The colour is worked into the mid-lengths and ends so it grows out softly instead of leaving a hard line. Balayage keeps the movement through the whole length; ombré keeps the depth at the top and lifts towards the ends. Both suit anyone who does not want to be back in the salon every few weeks.
We also fit hair extensions. Price depends on length, on how much hair is needed, and on whether you bring your own hair or we supply it — so it is not something we can quote or book in advance. Bring it up at your free hair-check and we will talk it through.
When colour has gone wrong
Patchy. Orange. Banded, with stripes where the roots meet the older colour. Darker than you meant it to be, and now it will not shift. Or a box colour that looked right on the packet and did not come out that way.
This is common, and it is fixable more often than people expect — but not always in one appointment, and not always straight away. Going darker is usually straightforward: a deeper shade will cover a lighter one. Going lighter means lifting the colour that is already there, out of hair that has often been through a lot already, and that is where the limits sit. Pushing past them is how hair breaks.
Box colour is the least predictable thing we deal with. Sometimes it lifts cleanly. Sometimes the pigment barely reacts at all. Sometimes it lifts in patches, because different boxes have been used at different times and they are not all sitting on the hair the same way. Nobody can tell you in advance which of those you will get — which is why we test a small section before committing to a plan.
So we look at it first. We tell you what can be evened out now, what needs a second appointment, and where the honest answer is that your hair needs time before anything else goes on it. If that is the answer, we will say so, and you will not have paid anything to hear it.
Mounir colour, and the training behind it
Mounir is the colour system Lora works with, and it is available here as an option alongside our standard colour range.
In 2023 Lora completed the Advanced Hair Designing course with Mounir Abonar. That training is the reason the system is offered here at all — the products are only worth having if the person using them has been taught to use them properly.
Whether it is the right choice for you is a question for your hair-check rather than something to decide in advance. Sometimes it is. Sometimes standard colour does the same job.
Why we do not quote before we have seen your hair
Colour is one of the few things in a salon where the same service name can mean two very different appointments. Length and thickness change how much product is needed. Previous colour changes how the hair responds. Condition changes how much can safely be done in one sitting. And how long it takes changes what it costs.
Quoting a number over the phone, before anyone has looked at your hair, would mean guessing at all four — and a guess that turns out low at the end of an appointment helps nobody.
So we do it the other way round. Your free hair-check takes around thirty minutes. We look at the condition, the colour history and the regrowth, and where it is useful we test a small section through the process we are proposing. You leave knowing what the work involves, how long it will take, and what it will cost — before you book anything and with no obligation to go ahead.
Questions people ask
How much does hair colour cost?
It depends on your hair, not just on the service name — length, thickness, what colour is already on it, and what condition it is in. We confirm the price at your free hair-check, before you book and before any work starts.
Do I need a patch test?
For some colour services, yes. If one is needed, we explain the next step before the colour service.
Can you fix colour that has gone orange or patchy?
Usually, yes — though not always in a single appointment. We look at what the hair can take, tell you what can be evened out now, and are honest if it needs a second visit or some time first.
I used a box dye at home. Will you still work on it?
Yes. Box colour is one of the most common things we are asked to put right. It helps if you can tell us what you used and roughly when.
What is the difference between highlights, balayage and ombré?
Highlights are foiled and give a more uniform lift. Balayage is painted freehand through the mid-lengths and ends for a softer grow-out. Ombré keeps the depth at the roots and lifts towards the ends. Balayage and ombré both grow out without a hard regrowth line.

A full head gives the biggest change. A half head works the top and sides, where the difference is most visible. A T-section covers the parting and hairline and is often the right choice between fuller appointments. We will tell you which one suits what you are after.
Can you colour my hair if it is already damaged?
Sometimes, and less than you might want. We assess what the hair will safely tolerate in one sitting. If the honest answer is that it needs time before more colour, we will tell you that.
